Tryouts 2023-24

 Tryout Registration Information

It is the intention of Whitby Ringette to host U14AA, U14A, U16A and U19A teams for the 2023-2024 season. WRA reserves the right to change team offerings up to and including the beginning of the season. 

In order to participate, all players must be registered with Ringette Ontario for insurance coverage. Any players from outside ringette, please email president@whitbyringette.com. 

U16AA team is being hosted in Oshawa. Please visit oshawaringette.com for warm up skates and tryout registration information.

U19AA teams are being hosted in both Oshawa and Ajax-Pickering. U19AA tryouts will be a joint tryout between the two associations. Please visit OSRA or APRA for warm up skates and tryout registration information.  

Releases

No player needs a release to try out for any team. A release is required in order to accept a spot on a team outside of one's home association. WRA home association players will not be released to play outside the association except in the following circumstances:

a. the player is offered a spot on a level of team that WRA is not offering (i.e. U16AA, U19AA)

b. the player is offered a spot on a team that WRA is offering, but WRA will not be offering the player a spot (i.e. a player is "cut")

Tryouts can be a stressful time for players, coaches, and volunteers. Please be kind and respectful when communicating either in person or via email. Because associations have tryouts at different times, there may be some waiting required for releases. No player will be released outside the association for a team WRA offers unless that player has also attended WRA tryouts.

How to Register

1. Please read Equal Opportunity for Access: Part of Ringette Ontario's team formation guideline refers to the gender make-up of a team. Please read Equal Access for Participation for information and some FAQs. You will be asked to confirm you have read the material and your willingness to play on female-only, mixed, or male-only teams during the tryout registration process. 

2. Please read Whitby Ringette's Policies  http://www.whitbyringette.com/content/WRA-Policies, including the underage-player policy. No underage player will be allowed to step on the ice for tryouts without completing this process. Please note that overage players cannot be rostered on A or AA teams.

3. Please register by completing this form for each player you are registering. 

4. The WRA tryout passport varies in price. See below for details. Please send payment to treasurer@whitbyringette.com, along with your player's name(s) and tryouts. Any player who has not paid will not be allowed to participate in warm up skates or tryouts. Make sure you send funds for the proper passport. No refunds will be provided unless WRA cancels tryouts.
